In 2020, BBE joined Hartford County’s Light the Night campaign for the first time, to support an employee’s battle with blood cancer. BBE’s newly created walk team raised $25,000 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and was awarded the honor of Top Corporate Fundraising Team for Hartford County. The following year in 2021, BBE’s walk team once again exceeded expectations, raising $30,000 for LLS and being awarded as Top Corporate Fundraising Team for Hartford County for the second year in a row.

The employee who was battling blood cancer two years ago is now cautiously optimistic in celebrating 18 months in remission. A remission that is never taken for granted and a remission which every cancer patient is not fortunate enough to receive. About one third of patients with a blood cancer still do not survive even five years after their diagnosis.

 

Despite BBE’s success in this campaign over the past two years, we know that the battle is not over for cancer patients and their families, and as such, our battle is not over either. Please consider supporting our team this year. Beating cancer is in our blood.
